In the Ternopil region recorded one of the outbreaks and spread of coronavirus COVID-19: this time, a potential carrier of the disease could become the Abbot of the Pochaev Lavra of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
This became known during the meeting of the regional operational headquarters for emergency situations. So, according to the chief sanitary doctor of the region Oxana Chaychuk, a priest could “catch” a dangerous virus from his wife who works as an accountant in one of the hospitals in the region.
Moreover, the same priest had the potential to infect the congregation and in other regions of Ukraine, Rivne, where the priest took a Church choir.
“It turned out that this priest and the choir of Pochaiv Lavra is connected with the flash and in the Dubno district of Rivne region. There is also a lot of positive,” the official noted.
According to local authorities, they tried to establish contact with the rector, but the latter does not communicate and otherwise refuses to cooperate with the competent authorities.
Earlier Диалог.UA reported that in late 2018, the monks of the Pochaev Lavra rebelled against the Abbot because of Thomas and the possible transition to the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Church.
