The Russian Embassy in Prague found a way to use your new address – the area of Boris Nemtsov, assigned to the diplomatic mission by the authorities of the Czech capital in February this year. The physical location of the Embassy will not change, but in official correspondence, it will specify the address of the consular section, located in the same complex but in another street – Korunovacni (Korunovační 34), writing of the Czech media.

The Newspaper Aktuálně.cz refers to a letter the Russian Embassy to the Czech foreign Ministry with an official notification about the change of his office address. The consular section is located about 400 meters from the Embassy. Street Korunovacni goes to the area of Boris Nemtsov.

The Russian Embassy did not explain the change of address for correspondence. The Czech foreign Ministry confirmed the receipt of the letter, calling it an administrative step that the Ministry has “no reason to challenge”. The mayor of Prague, zdeněk Grib called strange decision of the Russian Embassy, noting that even the President of Russia Vladimir Putin called the murder of Boris Nemtsov mean and cynical.

The ceremony renaming the square Under the Chestnut trees in Prague, where Russian diplomatic mission, was held on February 27, the fifth anniversary of the murder of Nemtsov. However, the Embassy still shows on their website now defunct address Pod Kaštany.

The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on the March decision to give a new address, the street where the Embassy stated that the Prague government did it as a sign of support of the Russian opposition. Zakharova “offended” over the opposition of other countries and actually equated the identity of Nemtsov to the participants of the protests of the “yellow jackets” in France.

“Do you plan to support the opposition in France, for example, the establishment of the monument “yellow jackets”? For some reason only Russia is an object of interest of Prague with the support of some political processes”, – she was indignant, calling the actions of the Prague authorities, nonsense and absurdity.

In her opinion, in the Czech capital, explaining the renaming of the street to support the Russian opposition, and it was disrespectful to the memory of “those people whose names are used”. “It turns out that their names are a tool in a political race, and it is very weird and wrong,” – said Zakharov. Nemtsov’s daughter Zhanna thanked the Czech authorities for the perpetuation of the memory of her father.
