The European Union has rejected any proposals for the return of Russia in the G7 and warned Washington that he can’t change the rules for the group, according to Reuters.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump said that would postpone the June G7 summit until September or later, and will expand the list of invited countries include Australia, Russia, South Korea and India. The current format of the G7 he called “very outdated”. India, Australia and South Korea earlier announced that it had received an invitation to participate in the enlarged summit of the G7.

The EU announced that it was considering the G7 as a very important multilateral structure that cannot be changed on a regular basis. “Russia’s participation in G8 was suspended as long as Russia does not change course, and the situation does not allow the G8 to re-launch a meaningful discussion. Currently, it is not so,” said the spokesman. Several governments of the G7 countries, including the UK and Canada, also rejected earlier calls for the trump to take Moscow back to the group.

Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov also said that the proposal of trump “while it creates more questions than answers”. The G7 includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and USA. A club member is the European Union. Russia was in the G7 between 1997 and 2014. At that time it was called the “big eight” or G8. In 2014, Russia chaired the organization, and the summit of its leaders was to be held in Sochi shortly after the winter Olympics. In the spring the heads of the countries “the seven” has decided not to go to Sochi, moved the summit to Brussels and was not invited to Russia. They said the illegal annexation of Crimea to Russia and interference in the internal Affairs of Ukraine.
