The international biathlon Union (IBU) has decided to cancel the world championship on summer biathlon in 2020.

“With great sadness we had to cancel the summer biathlon world Championships. We fully accept and support the decision of the organizing Committee in Sochi and the German ski Federation the refusal of the competitions. We strive to hold fair and safe competition, but given the problems and uncertainties caused by COVID-19, it was decided that the event this year is impossible. We look forward to the return of the summer biathlon world Championships in 2021 in Nove mesto,” said the head of the IBU Olle Dahlin.
Summer world Cup should have been held in Ruhpolding, Germany from 19 to 23 August. The German government has canceled all mass gatherings in the country until August 31 in connection with the pandemic coronavirus infection.
Drachev has previously refused to discuss the issue of elections of the head of the RBU.
