World Boxing organization (WBO) has obliged the world champion in a light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev to spend defending his title in a fight with Briton Anthony Yard.

As the press service of the WBO, the parties have 30 days to reach an agreement about the upcoming battle.

35-year-old Kovalev regained the title after defeating Colombian Ladera Alvarez. In total, he has 33 wins, 28 of them by knockout, three defeats and one draw.

27-year-old Yard, which is a mandatory Challenger for the title, won 18 wins, 17 of them — ahead of schedule, and has not suffered a single defeat.

Earlier it was reported that the Cuban Sullivan Barrera boxer criticized potential Challenger Kovalev.
