In Kharkov at the Memorial to Holodomor victims laid flowers and lit candles.

To honor those who died in 1932-1933 came school children, clergy and officials. To the Memorial and laid flowers, bread, cookies and candy.

In all settlements of the region at 16:00 will share a memory “light a candle”. At Freedom square in Kharkiv residents of the city will spread from the candle to the symbolic cross and honor the memory of the dead from famine with a minute of silence. Also in the Kharkiv region opened Museum of memory of victims of Holodomor. As reported Depo.Kharkiv, today was the first excursion in the Museum, as well as the consecration of the institution.

Museum exhibits signed by both in Ukrainian and English, so the Museum will be able to take foreign guests. Among the exhibits are clothing, household items, photographs of famine victims, which were transmitted to their descendants.

During the first tour were released into armed uprisings of the peasants of Kharkiv against the expropriators of grain. According to the organizers of the Museum in the spring of 32 year in Ukraine died every day up to 25 thousand citizens. At the same time, the Soviet government introduced criminal responsibility for the identification of the peasants food even for children from the age of nine.

In addition, the exhibition presents the diary of teacher of Kharkiv region Alexandra Radchenko about famine 32-33 years. This diary in 40 years was discovered by the NKVD, and then Radchenko was sentenced to 10 years in prison for “anti-Soviet agitation”.

The Museum also presents the facts the help of international organizations in overcoming the famine in Ukraine. Finally the tour the visitors were shown a short documentary of the eyewitnesses of Holodomor. The priest read a prayer in memory of the dead and sanctified the institution.
