Online platform Coursera provide free 3800 of its courses for people who lost their jobs during a pandemic coronavirus. The initiative is part of the training programme for civil servants Coursera for Government.

According to the blog post, Coursera, the organization aims to help communities to improve professional skills for re-employment. However, to apply for free training from a private person not only government agencies that serve the unemployed, have the right to make a request for such access. Over the past five weeks in the US, about 26 million people filed applications for unemployment benefits. Therefore, the lack of potential participants is not clear.

The program includes specialized lessons from companies-partners of Coursera, such as Google and IBM, as well as courses in the field of cloud computing, new technologies, machine learning, big data, and many business training.

According to the company, at the moment the program has already joined the governments of Colombia, Costa Rica, Greece, Malaysia, Panama, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Coursera expects to significantly expand the list of participating government agencies in the coming weeks.
