In the Netherlands the process of the first four suspects in the case of the downed Boeing flight MH17 announced the results of the analyses of the bodies of crew members downed in the Donbass airliner, reports UNIAN. “The bodies of 29 crew discovered steel splinters. One of them had the shape of a butterfly. The medical examiner found it in the body of the captain of the crew”, – told reporters the Prosecutor Thijs Berger.

The Netherlands forensic Institute compared the fragments of rockets, and he noted similarities with the “Buck” type 9M38M1.

These warheads are mounted on missiles 9M38 (consists on arms of VS of Ukraine) and 9M38M1 (consists on arms of VS of Russia) and used anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS) “Buk”, “Buk-M1” and “Buk-M1-2”. Investigative reporting group the Bellingcat said the plane was hit by Buk missile system, which was transported from the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade in Kursk.

On 9 March the trial began, but the suspects are Russian citizens Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinsky, Oleg Pulatov and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko did not appear at the hearing. The court is prepared to carry out the process in the case of MH17 in absentia, without the presence of suspects.

The meeting was attended by defence Pulatova – two lawyers from Dutch legal company Sjöcrona Van Stigt. Also the hearing was attended by Russian lawyer Olena Kutin.

Judge Hendrik Steinhaus reported that the case materials consist of MH17 36 thousand pages and have a huge amount of multimedia files in digital format. In court prosecutors received information that relatives now 49 want to use the right speech in court, an 82 – want to submit a written Declaration regarding the expectations from the court, and 84 – want to apply demanding compensation.

On this day, the process was mainly made by the prosecution, which told about the difficulties in gathering evidence, and reiterated that there was evidence that the Buk was in the territory controlled by Russian-backed forces.

Also, the judge said that the court wished to adduce classified satellite images showing a missile at the plane and thus, to declassify them. According to him, the public Prosecutor’s office sent the corresponding request to the United States in 2014, and in response received a Memorandum describing the pictures and technical information to them. The national public Prosecutor for terrorism of the Netherlands has reviewed this Memorandum.

“The Prosecutor came to the conclusion that the Memorandum was supported by other sources that he has read. He also asked that his conclusions were included in the file. The US authorities have informed that are not able to provide additional data about the rocket in addition to this Memorandum,” said the presiding judge.

Thus, the Memorandum provided by the United States, and the conclusion of the Prosecutor of the Netherlands on combating terrorism was attached to the case materials.

In mid-November 2019 international investigation team published telephone intercepts, from which it follows that Russia completely controlled the process of invasion the Pro-Russian armed formations on the territory of Ukraine, and the weapons of the militia were sent through the channels of FSB and GRU.

Was promulgated and the testimony of the witness, which showed that next to “Buck”, which fired a missile at the airliner, were employees of the FSB.

It is expected that the prosecution will present their evidence also on Wednesday. Current stage of the process will conclude on 12 June, and then adjourned.
