The investigative Committee of Belarus opened a criminal case against the alleged organizers and active participants of the protest held on July 14 in Minsk in support of the unregistered candidates.
The case was initiated under article 342 of the criminal code “on the organization and conduct of group actions, roughly violating public order and interfaced to obvious disobedience to legal requirements of police officers”, reported “BelTA” Deputy head of the Department of insurance in Minsk Andrew Motolko.
To the criminal case will be attached to “all web-hosted videos.”
According to the human rights center “Viasna” on Wednesday morning, the police detained about 200 participants of the natural stock. About three dozen people were arrested in the Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Pruzhany, Bobruisk, Soligorsk, Columns. A similar number cited the Ministry of internal Affairs. “Detained more than 250 people, including drivers and cyclists for disobeying a lawful order or request of an official in the performance of official duties, violation of order of organizing or holding mass events, as well as violation of traffic rules. The Belarusian Association of journalists also reported the arrest of 10 more members of the media who worked on the shares.
On Tuesday evening, supporters of the unregistered presidential candidates Victor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo went on the Central street of Minsk – Independence Avenue to the Cathedral. On 14 July, the Central election Commission of Belarus has registered five presidential candidates is the incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko, a former MP Anna Konopacka, Chairman of the party Belarusian social democratic party Sergei Cerecer, co-chair of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrey Dmitriev and the wife of a detained blogger Sergei Tikhanovski – Svetlana Tikhanovski.
At the same time, Central election Commission of Belarus has not registered opposition leader Valery Tsepkalo. Earlier, the CEC refused to register for elections and former Chairman of the Board of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko. The Chairman of the Commission referred to the errors in his Declaration, and his campaign foreign organizations.
Himself Victor Babariko together with his son Edward, who was the head of his election headquarters had been arrested. They were charged with money laundering, evasion of taxes in especially large size and bribery.
