The names of the plants, the animals – even the worst diseases have names, why so many flowers are still unnamed? Manufacturer art supplies Crayola has always known how to come up with creative names for their pencils, but now you have the chance to give a unique name to each of the 16.7 million colors 24-bit color spectrum.

On the website ColorNames.org you can invent your own name any color, and there is a chance that it will be assigned to him officially. Of course, there are some rules you need to follow. The name you come up with, should be descriptive: for example, you can’t take a pasty shade of white and try to call him “Andrey”. The name also must not be offensive. And it is safe to assume that a large Corporation wouldn’t approve of names like “Red-as-Bank-of-Coca-Cola”.

You can offer a name for any of the 16.7 million colors in the spectrum – even for those titles which have already been suggested. The website allows visitors to vote for different versions of the names, and if one color will be presented with two titles wins that will get more votes. At the time of this writing, 1 093 271 color already got the names, although many of the names is dubious and unlikely to survive.
