In France after three weeks of protests by “yellow jackets”, the authorities decided instead of a six-month moratorium on the growth of the fuel tax to cancel the increase of the whole 2019.

“The increase in fuel tax cancelled for the entire 2019,” – said the Minister of environmental transition, françois de Rugy on air of TV channel BFM on 5 December. The same was announced by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, said “Medusa” referring to AFP.

A day earlier, Philip had declared that he would put the semi-annual moratorium on the increase in the fuel tax. It was also reported that the authorities will reinforce the moratorium by other measures, aimed at reducing social tensions in the country. In particular, reminds TASS, Philip proposed to repeal the increase in the cost of technical inspection of vehicles, as well as temporarily freeze tariffs for electricity and gas.

The national Assembly of France on the eve of December 5, approved the initiatives of the government, now it is the decision of the Senate. An appeal to the senators the Prime Minister will speak today, 6 December.

All these measures were a consequence of the demands of protesters “yellow jackets”, the demonstration which continued for three weeks from 17 November. Earlier the Republic’s authorities announced that from 1 January 2019 the price of gasoline will increase by three cents and diesel by 6.5 cents. One of the components of growth is imposed by the government environmental tax on greenhouse gas emissions.

Due to the protests the President of France Emmanuel Makron even fell to a record level of 23%. The demonstration was attended by hundreds of thousands of people, rallies turned into riots. On Saturday, December 1, protests “yellow jackets” and the unrest has spread to almost the entire country.

The protesters damaged several exhibits triumphant арки/world/03dec2018/gelb.html in Paris. On the streets, the demonstrators smashed Windows of large Central shops, threw stones at police, smoke bombs and Molotov cocktails.

Initially, the motorists opposed the increase in fuel prices, and later joined the demonstrators dissatisfied with the policy of the government as a whole. On 3 December it was reported that victims of the riots began three people.
