American military intelligence discovered the new diesel-electric submarine of North Korea, which is under construction at the shipyard Shinpo on the East coast of the DPRK. This was reported edition of the Diplomat, citing sources in the U.S. government, reports European truth.
The publication the Diplomat is located in Tokyo and writes on politics and security issues in the Asia-Pacific region.
US intelligence believes that North Korea is building a submarine with a displacement of 2000 tonnes and a width of 11 meters.
If these data are true, this will be the largest vessel built for the Navy of North Korea since the establishment of the Najin class frigates.
The submarine, which the American intelligence gave the code name Sinpo-C, most likely, is the successor-class submarine Gorae, capable of carrying ballistic missiles. Obviously, the new boat will also get ballistic missiles.
North Korea has a submarine class Gorae with a displacement of 1,700 tons, which are placed missiles KN-11. However, this submarine was not on combat duty.
Recall that North Korea had tested a ballistic missile submarine in August 2016. Then the rocket Pukguksong-1 flew at an altitude of 500 kilometers and fell into the sea of Japan.
