Typhoon “Demri” in Vietnam has killed 19 people

KIEV. 4 Nov. UNN. At least 19 people were killed and another 12 people unaccounted for as a result of Typhoon “Demri”, which hit the southern and Central coast of Vietnam on Saturday, reports UNN with reference to Deutsche Welle.

Some areas in Khanh Hoa province was flooded. The storm destroyed 370 houses, and about 49 thousand were damaged.

The Typhoon caused damage to rice and other fields in the province, as well as the hundreds of fishing boats. Local authorities evacuated more than 35 thousand inhabitants of the surrounding villages.

In the next few days in Vietnam are expected heavy rains. American meteorologists predict that a weakened Typhoon will continue to move in a westerly direction into Cambodia and Laos. “Damri”, as noted, may become the strongest Typhoon in Vietnam since 2001.
