The Prosecutor’s office: I. Guzhva and his intermediary have detained on suspicion in extortion

KIEV. June 23. UNN. Under the procedural management of Prosecutor’s office of Kyiv investigators SU GU NP in the city of Kiev on suspicion in committing a crime under part 3 of article 189 of UK of Ukraine (extortion) arrested the head of the Internet edition Igor Guzhva and his broker. Reports a press about it-service of Prosecutor’s office of Kyiv, reports UNN.

As noted, conducted pre-trial investigation established that the head of the online publication, acting in collusion with the person who was represented by his personal assistant, demanded that the people’s Deputy of Ukraine cash in the amount of 20 thousand US dollars for not disclosing to the media information about his personal life and political activities.

The results of the conducted investigations, covert investigative (search) actions for almost 3 months of investigation identified and recorded, including the material carriers of information, illegal actions of the specified persons, their agreement among themselves on the amount of funds, wishing to obtain from the victim about the intentions and the presence of incriminating material for blackmail last added in Prosecutor’s office.

“22.06.2017 immediately after the transfer of funds in the amount of 10 thousand U.S. dollars from the victim through an intermediary to the head of the Internet publication referred to people detained in order St. 208 criminal procedure code of Ukraine. By results of the conducted immediate search in the editorial offices of the funds discovered in the portfolio of chief the Internet-editions”, – stated in the message.

Provided that now “preparing the notice to detained persons and the petition for election of a measure of restraint”.

The investigation is continuing.
