Israel has begun work on the creation of the settlement in honor of the President of the United States Donald trump on the Golan heights, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a government meeting. The Israeli leader explained that the decision on the establishment of the settlement was taken as a sign of respect to the actions of trump, who in March 2019 to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and Israeli sovereignty over the Golan heights.

The Golan heights, we recall, was occupied by Israel during the six day war of 1967, before that they were under the control of Syria.

“Today we will start practical steps for the creation of the settlement Ramat-tramp on the Golan heights,” said Netanyahu.

Newspaper the Jerusalem Post recalls that the government has approved an initial budget for the creation of the settlement. The Cabinet has allocated 8 million shekels (about 2.3 million, or 160.4 million rubles) that will direct planning and construction in the settlement of temporary structures.

The next step towards the creation of the settlement is the sale of land for construction, the newspaper said.

On the plans for the Golan settlements in honor of trump’s Netanyahu announced in April 2019. In June of that year, Netanyahu has assigned future settlement the name “Ramat trump” (“trump Height”).
