The fire at the plant Karpatneftekhim in Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region) arose due to violations of safety rules.

This was informed in the Directorate of the National police in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Flare combustion of pyrolysis occurred approximately 01:00 on January 13. The fire was forbidden to put out, therefore, was carried out cooling of adjacent buildings. The engineering personnel was blocked valves (therefore, the pyrolysis proceeded from the pipe that suffered damage).

“Previously it is established that the fire arose from-for violations of safety rules during performance of works with the raised danger on manufacture “, – stated in the message.

The cause of the fire and damage are established now. There were no injuries.

Upon a fire the police opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 272 of the Criminal code (violation of safety rules during the execution of works with high risk at work or any enterprise entity, which is obliged to comply with them, if the violation created a risk of death or occurrence of other grave consequences, or caused harm to health of the victim). This article prescribes punishment in the form of a penalty to fifty free minima of incomes of citizens (850 UAH) or correctional labor for a term up to two years, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years or without it.

Investigations are continuing.
