Sweden and Ukraine discussed measures to combat coronavirus and further cooperation

KIEV. April 30. UNN. Deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva has held a phone conversation with state Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden Karin Valentin where the two sides discussed measures to combat coronavirus and the organization of flights for the return of the Ukrainians. It is reported by UNN citing the press service of the President’s Office.

“Deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva has held a phone conversation with state Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden Karin Valentin.

The interlocutors exchanged information on the measures taken by Ukraine and Sweden to counter COVID-19, and agreed on the need for coordination the appropriate steps to protect the health of the citizens of both countries”, – stated in the message.

Also during the conversation was the importance of organizing flights for the return of citizens to their homeland, the last of which was made the day before.

“The Ukrainian side was supported by the future Swedish presidency of the OSCE in 2021 and expressed willingness to discuss important in this regard, initiatives at bilateral consultations to be held in the near future”, – stated in the message.

In addition, Zhovkva introduced to Karin Valentin with the current situation in the Donbass, drawing particular attention to blocking and failure of a number of important steps: ceasefire, withdrawal of troops, allow full access of the OSCE SMM to the temporarily occupied territories and access of humanitarian personnel to the held party.

“It was agreed to intensify bilateral political dialogue following the completion of the pandemic and to promote active development of trade-economic cooperation”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, the Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine Tobias Tiberg said that the issue of gender equality to be a high priority during the Swedish chairmanship in the OSCE in 2021.
