According to the newspaper Bild, the unknown opened fire at two hookah cafes, and then on one of the squares of the city. According to eyewitnesses, cited by DW, the evening of 19 February, unknown persons opened fire at one of the hookah bars in the Central part of Hanau, shooting three people.

The attackers fled, and after some time there appeared information about a similar incident in the hookah, located in another area of the city – Kesselstadt. According to unconfirmed reports, in the room came from the man and opened indiscriminate firing, killing five people. The victims – mostly young people, including a woman. Another person died several hours later of his wounds, at least five people were seriously injured.

It is reported that one person was detained, appeared in the media images of young men in handcuffs being led by police, but the police soon stated that the detainee is irrelevant to both attacks. The area around the scene was cordoned off. Police searched for the attackers, the exact number is still unknown. To the aid of colleagues from Hanau arrived police officers from the Federal state Bavaria.

The alleged offender opened fire in the German town of Hanau, was later found dead at his home, near it was found another body. This was reported in Twitter of the local police. The name of the suspect has not yet been disclosed.

She expressed hope for a speedy recovery of the wounded and thanked the representatives of the emergency services.
