Panasonic is testing in Tokyo new robotic transport system. It consists of three electric self-propelled chair with a set program “Follow the leader”.

With the improvement of technology robotic systems increasingly permeate our daily lives. But in order for this integration to work, they need to learn to function in chaotic, unpredictable world of humans. This requires a huge amount of research and development and testing in the field.

Ongoing trials Panasonic are in a closed train station Takanawa in Minato (Tokyo). Their goal is to study how well the robots can navigate and operate in an open environment. Testing will go until September.

On the idea of the Panasonic engineers, the head of the robot will be managed by plant staff, and the second and third is to follow the leader. This is the most important function of the new robots the developers call the ability to automatically brake. If the path of the caravan there is a obstacle the entire Trinity time to stop, but when the disturbance disappears – will continue to move.

The ultimate aim of Panasonic is to develop a stand – alone system for transportation of people, which do not require the control of a human operator.
