An armed clash occurred in the afternoon of 12 July, on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, reports “Interfax”.

Press Secretary of the Ministry of defense of Armenia Shushan Stepanyan told “Interfax” that “Azerbaijani armed forces attempted violations of Armenia’s state border in the Tavush direction.” On the losses there are not reported.

“Today at 12:30 the soldiers of the Azerbaijani armed forces, for reasons unknown to us, the UAZ attempted violations of the state border in the Tavush direction. After warning the Armenian side, leaving the UAZ, the soldiers of the enemy returned to their positions. At 13:45 servicemen of the Azerbaijani armed forces, using artillery fire, tried to take over our stronghold, but were driven back by fire from their positions, suffering losses in manpower,” said Shushan Stepanyan.

In a press-service of the Azerbaijani defense Ministry reported the violation by the Armenian side of the cease-fire, noted that both sides suffered losses. “As a result of responses during the battle, two Azerbaijani servicemen were killed, five wounded”, – stated in the message of the Azerbaijani defense Ministry.

In the Azerbaijani defense Ministry stressed that units of the armed forces of Armenia in the area of Tovuz district, the Azerbaijani-Armenian border has shelled the positions of Azerbaijan from artillery.
