MPs sent for revision the presidential bill on the activities of the SBU

KIEV. May 20. UNN. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine sent for a repeat first reading in the Committee on national security, defence and intelligence the presidential bill №3196 concerning improvement of the activities of the security Service of Ukraine. The decision was supported by 287 people’s deputies of Ukraine, the correspondent of UNN.

As noted in the explanatory Memorandum, the bill aims to improve the institutional capacity of the SBU state security and of the legislation of Ukraine, regulating the activities of the SBU, in accordance with modern challenges, potential and real threats to state security of Ukraine.

The bill proposes changes regarding legal regulation of activity of the SBU, in particular, provides the definition of the objectives of the SBU, optimisation of staff constructing, modernizing the matters of monetary, social and pension provision of employees of the SBU, and the like.

The bill introduces penalties for failure to comply with officers of SBU functions or powers – it is assumed the penalty from 15 to 20 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.

As reported UNN earlier, the fraction of “servant of the people” is planning to send back for revision the draft law on improvement of activity of the SBU, submitted by President Vladimir Zelensky.
