The Ukrainian delegation to the PACE, and the heads of other delegations supported the signing of the Belarusian Declaration of support for the aspirations of the Belarusian people to freely vote in elections and put forward their demands. “Ukraine, including our delegation in PACE, is not an indifferent observer of the events that happen in neighboring Belarus. As a member of the delegation, joined the signing of the Belarusian Declaration together with colleagues”, – I wrote to Kravchuk.

According to her, the document expressed the position of Ukraine and calls for dialogue based on respect for the rights and freedoms of the individual. This position was supported by heads of delegations of Estonia Maria Yufereva-skuratovskiy, Latvia – Inese Libin-Egner, of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius and the United Kingdom of great Britain – Roger Gale.

“The whole democratic world aches for a better future for the Belarusian people,” – said Kravchuk.

Therefore, the Belarusian Declaration of the PACE delegates said about support for the aspirations of the Belarusian people to free revealing in the elections and fair counting of votes, and the empathy for the struggle of the Belarusians for freedom and democracy.

“We, the delegates, the undersigned declare under declare that campaign for elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus vote on 9 August 2020 and the counting of votes does not meet international electoral standards, was carried out with mass violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens and do not reflect the free will of the Belarusian people; condemn the use of violence against the participants of peaceful Assembly in Minsk, Grodno, Gomel, Brest and other towns of Belarus; urge the Belarus authorities to immediately release all illegally detained participants of peaceful assemblies”, – stated in the message.

In addition, the signatories insist on a speedy beginning of peaceful dialogue between all parties of the electoral process.

“We welcome the independent inquiry regarding the improper use of force against participants of peaceful assemblies; willing to facilitiate dialogue between the participants of the electoral process and to provide a platform for such negotiations discourage the Russian Federation from interfering in the internal Affairs of Belarus”, – wrote to Kravchuk.
