“All these inmates, and there they have under 30 people… All testify, and this already began to cry. When not registered, cried, and began to testify. Therefore, prisoners of conscience, they will not” – said the President of not calling Babariko name.

He added that in the case of Babariko there is no political order, and ordered to invite Belarus specialists of Interpol, the USA, Poland and Russia, to inform them about the investigation. Under his instruction, the KGB investigators and the Prosecutor’s office will prepare all the necessary materials for foreign professionals. “And we’ll show them these documents,” – said Lukashenko.

The candidate on post of President of Belarus Victor Babariko accused under three articles of the Criminal code: money laundering (part 2 of article 235), evasion from payment of taxes in especially large size (part 2, article 243) and giving a bribe repeatedly or on a large scale (part 2 of article 431). The son of a candidate and his campaign Manager Edward Babariko was charged under part 2 of article 243 of the criminal code of Belarus (evasion of taxes in especially large size).

In accordance with the Criminal code, under part 2 of article 235 in Belarus punishable by imprisonment for a term from four to seven years with a fine and with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions; as regards 2 articles 243 – a fine or deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities, or arrest with a fine, or restriction of freedom for up to three years with a fine, or imprisonment for the same term with a fine; under part 2 of article 431 – the restriction of liberty for a term up to five years or imprisonment for the term from two till seven years.

June 30, the Tsentralny district court of Minsk considered and rejected the complaint of Babariko in custody. The defense announced its intention to appeal this decision to the Minsk city court.

Babariko and his son Edward was arrested on 18 June. The state control Committee of Belarus said that the presidential contender “was the direct organizer, head of the illegal activities”. After the detention procedure contrary to Babariko and his son were not allowed lawyers.

On 19 June, the Prosecutor General Aliaksandr kaniuk stated that the defendants in the case of Belgazprombank “has created a threat to the national security interests of the country, both financially and in other areas”.
