Japan successfully launched into orbit a spy satellite to monitor North Korea
KIEV. 9 Feb. UNN. Sunday, February 9, Japan made a successful launch of the carrier rocket H-2A, which put into orbit a satellite Optical 7, is designed for intelligence gathering. It is reported by UNN with reference to the Agency Kyodo.
The spacecraft was launched from the spaceport Tanegashima in southwestern Kagoshima Prefecture at 10:34 local time (03:34 Kyiv time). Initially the launch was scheduled for 28 January but was postponed because of a leak in the pipeline, which supplies the rocket nitrogen.
This launch was the 35th successful launch of the carrier rocket H-2A.
Spy satellite Optical 7 was developed by company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. According to NASA, launched on 9 February, the satellite will be managed by the exploration of Japan. It will become part of the information-gathering system (IGS) and begin to collect data on the nuclear and missile facilities of North Korea. The satellite allows to obtain high-quality images of the earth surface in any weather and at night.
