The decree authorizes the Governor to enter into the city to one thousand soldiers of the National guard of Georgia. “This lawlessness must be stopped, and order in our capital has been restored. I declared a state of emergency and called the Georgia guard, because the safety of our citizens comes first. This measure would allow the troops to protect state property and direct law enforcement officers to patrol our streets. The conversation will be hard. We must protect the lives and livelihoods of all residents of the state”, – reads the statement of the Governor published on his website.
