Germany opposes the return of Russia in the G7, as problems, for which the state was expelled from the group, still not solved, said the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas. He explained that Berlin will not consider the restore the G8 format, while resolving the conflict in the Donbas and the issue of Crimea’s belonging. In the Minister’s opinion, Germany also will not go to the establishment of new formats with the participation of Russia, India and other countries.

“The reason for the exclusion of Russia’s annexation of Crimea and intervention in Eastern Ukraine. Until we have these issues, I don’t see any chances of recovery,” said Maas in an interview with Rheinische Post.

The head of the German foreign Ministry said that Berlin sees Crimea as part of Ukraine. “We can’t shrug our shoulders and accept that someone arbitrarily moves the borders in Europe of the XXI century. If we settle the issue in the East of Ukraine, should be addressed and the question of Crimea,” he said.

He also said that Germany not interested in the idea of the President of the United States Donald trump to establish new formats of dialogue with the participation of Russia, India, Australia and South Korea. According to him, the existing clubs of the “reasonably coordinated” and hold Berlin. At the same time, the Minister praised the work of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. “During the talks, he consistently defends the interests of the Russian Federation, but it is always possible to find an acceptable solution,” explained Maas.

30 may the US President Donald trump called the G7 format is inefficient and therefore announced the intention to invite to the summit of this organization, Russia, India, South Korea and Australia. The G7 summit was scheduled for June, but trump has postponed it until the fall because of mass protests.

Against the idea of a return to the G8 format involving Russia by France, Canada and the UK. According to representatives of these countries, the resumption of dialogue prevent the same problems from which Russia was expelled from the group – the question of supplies of Crimea and the conflict in the Donbass. The EU announced that it was considering the G7 as a very important multilateral structure that cannot be changed on a regular basis. “Russia’s participation in G8 was suspended as long as Russia does not change course, and the situation does not allow the G8 to re-launch a meaningful discussion. Currently, it is not so,” said the spokesman.

The Russian foreign Ministry in turn said that the G7 meeting in the “extended format” should join China, otherwise it would not make sense. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov also said that the proposal of trump “while it creates more questions than answers”. Commenting on the current statement of the foreign Ministry of Germany, Peskov said that Russia does not seek to restore the G8 format, as fully satisfied with the effectiveness of the format “the big twenty” which “better meets today’s economic realities from the point of view of economic development in the world.” About it reports TASS.

Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has never made any initiatives or requests some action, so that Russia is once again joined the “sevens”. In addition, according to Peskov, any Association that does not include the main centers of economic development and economic potential, has no potential for effectiveness.

“As you can, for example, to discuss the fate of the world in the field of Economics or social development, or something else, or policy without India, without China, without Brazil, without the participation of Turkey and a number of other countries? Probably you can discuss, but it is unlikely you can qualify for some kind of world leadership”, – expressed his opinion to the press Secretary of the head of state.
