Due to the failure of PCR diagnostics to trust the statistics of morbidity COVID-19 in Ukraine is impossible – Komisarenko
KIEV. May 19. UNN. Today in Ukraine, the previous day recorded 260 new cases of infection with coronavirus. However, this decline in incidence is not evidence of the objective condition of the situation. So says the Ukrainian scientist, academician-Secretary of the Department of biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology NAS of Ukraine Serhiy Komissarenko, and explains the failure diagnosis, which takes place in Ukraine. This he said in exclusive comments to UNN.
“I believe that the diagnosis of the virus in our country actually failed. Yesterday, I read an interview with the head of the Centre for public health, Ministry of health of Ukraine Igor Cousin. And it turns out that the diagnosis which have been purchased (PCR tests) – they are not specific and not sensitive. Not only that, they spent little, so it turned out that they also were of poor quality.
Therefore, when we talk about the statistics of morbidity, excluding those patients who have pronounced symptoms and are in the hospital, the actual number actually infected – I think it’s much more official data. And to detect them, we at least need proper tests and proper testing,” – said the scientist.
As written by the UNN, the Ministry of health rejected PCR tests for the second study showed a sensitivity of 20%.
