Customs officers of the airport “Kiev” regularly engaged in extortion from passengers
The corrupt officials shining a period of five to ten years
Employees of the Moscow Prosecutor’s office jointly with the SBU and the SFS detained at the airport Kiev (Zhulyany) state inspector of customs clearance Department and his colleague of the facilitator, which was accused of systematic bribery.
Reportedly, the investigation revealed that these officials have set up a scheme of extortion from citizens for unhindered movement of excisable or other marketable goods.
“The bribe taker and his colleague, which the latter was brought in as a mediator, was detained during obtaining illegal benefit in the sum more than 600 euros from the citizen for permission to move across the state border of Ukraine of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages in a prohibited number”, – told in Prosecutor’s office.
At this time, the detainee it is declared suspicion in Commission of crime under part 3 St. 368 criminal code of Ukraine, and also preparing a petition for election of a measure of restraint and removal from office.
“The sanction of article provides imprisonment for the term from five till ten years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years with confiscation of property”, – added in Department.
We will remind, three customs officers were sentenced to 7.5 years in prison.
