The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison said that his country will join US in ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and send a limited military contingent in the Persian Gulf.
“We need to contribute to international peacekeeping mission and the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz” — quoted by TASS Morrison.
He noted that the Strait is about 25% of oil delivered to Australia.
It is also reported that in the framework of the military mission in the Persian Gulf will be sent to a military ship, aircraft observations and a limited contingent of 200 soldiers and officers of the Australian army.
August 6, Britain announced joining the coalition of the United States in the Strait of Hormuz.
