Against held in the Crimea Panova torture – Ministry of foreign Affairs
Uncategorized March 18, 2017The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine has information that against the detainee in the Crimea Ukrainian Eugene Panov torture. This was stated by foreign Ministry spokesman Marian Betz, reports Radio Liberty.
Evgeny Panov and Andrew Sahaja detained in 2016 for allegedly planning acts of sabotage. They remain in custody.
“The refusal of the Russian government to allow Ukrainian Consul meeting with Panov and Saheem is a gross violation of the Vienna Convention on consular relations and Consular Convention between Ukraine and Russia, as well as another proof of systematic disregard by the Russian Federation of the rights of illegally detained citizens,” said Betz.
On 15 February it became known that Panov and Sahaja was transferred from Lefortovo prison to Crimea.
Panova on the detention it became known on August 10, when the FSB announcedthat in the night of 6 to 7 August in the Crimea were allegedly “discovered a group of Ukrainian saboteurs” sent for training “sabotage and terrorist acts”. Panova, the FSB has called “one of the organizers of the prevented acts of terrorism”. He was then arrested and the second defendant – driver Andrew Sahta.
According to the data of the Ukrainian intelligence, in the Crimea there was a firefight between the FSB and the Russian military. This situation is the Russian government trying to pass off as sabotage of Ukraine.
