Anti-Russian sanctions should remain in place until the Minsk agreements will be fulfilled. The special representative of the USA concerning Ukraine Kurt Volker in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

He also called “absolutely incorrect” impression that the crisis in the East of Ukraine was held.

“2017 was the most hard. Violations of the ceasefire have increased, while the number of civilians killed was the highest since the beginning of collisions. To this is added the collapse of the economy and infrastructure that has made the population more vulnerable,” said Walker.

Walker stressed that the observance of the Minsk agreements is an essential condition for the lifting of sanctions.

“We must maintain the sanctions until Minsk will not be implemented because they create the incentive to comply with the agreement,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance of the USA has made in the sanctions “Magnitsky list” of five Russians, among them the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
