KIEV. September 7. UNN. In the military exercises of the Russian Federation “East 2018” will be involved 297 thousand military and 36 thousand tanks, thousands of airplanes and helicopters, infantry fighting vehicles and other military equipment. The military plan will be created two warring factions. This was stated by the head of the Russian General staff army General Valery Gerasimov at a briefing for military attaches, reports UNN with reference to the press service of the defense Ministry.
“The troops are involved in Eastern and Central military districts, the Northern fleet and the airborne troops, and also part of the forces of the far, military transport and operational-tactical aircraft of the aerospace defence forces. Just maneuvers involved 297 thousand troops, thousands of aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, to 36 thousand tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and other vehicles, up to 80 ships and support vessels,” — said V. Gerasimov.
He noted that according to the plan maneuvers “as a result of deployment of troops according to the plan exercises are currently created two opposing factions”.
“On the one hand the Central military district and the Northern fleet, with another — in East military district and Pacific fleet,” — said Gerasimov.
According to him, these teachings on the scope and depth of rearrangements surpass the large-scale exercises that were conducted in the USSR, the “West-81”.
Note that military exercises “Vostok-2018” is scheduled for 11-15 September, one of the stages will be held after the Eastern economic forum (WEF) in Vladivostok.
The exercises will involve units from China and Mongolia.
