80% of all payment terminals in Ukraine already accept contactless payments

From April 2019 all issued by Ukrainian banks Visa card go to “the option of contactless payment”. This was announced by senior Vice President, Director of regional division of Visa in CIS countries and South-Eastern Europe (CISSEE) Vera Platonova, reports FinClub.
Earlier, according to the NBU, only 10.7% of payment cards in Ukraine was non-contact (3,95 million cards out of 36.95 million). The data available as of January 1, 2019.
The total number of contactless card payment in 2018 increased by 44%.

At the moment 80% of all payment terminals in Ukraine accept contactless payments (221,5 thousand terminals from 278,99 thousand).
The reason for innovation was the requirement of international payment systems. From 1 January 2016 need to install new payment terminals only module for contactless debiting of funds.
