Trump has authorized the transfer of lethal weapons to Ukraine – Ambassador

Signed today by President Donald trump the law on the budget of the United States in 2018 for the needs of national defense authorizes the transfer of lethal weapons to Ukraine. About it reports a press-service of Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

“The law authorizes the granting to our country of lethal weapons of a defensive nature and greatly expands the parameters of support of Ukraine by the United States in the field of security and defense sector”, – stated in the message.

The Embassy noted that the document includes provisions authorizing the use of $350 million for rehabilitation in medical institutions of the USA wounded Ukrainian military, education and training to Ukrainian doctors, as well as to enhance the ability of air and naval forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian diplomats say that for the first time at the legislative level it is proposed to provide Ukraine the following defensive tools: radar air defense and surveillance of the surface situation; naval mine; the ships of coastal actions and coast guard.

Today trump signed the defense budget for the 2018 fiscal year, providing $350 million for Ukraine, including in the form of lethal weapons.
