Kurt Volker

KIEV. July 8. UNN. Special envoy of the US state Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker told what to expect from the meeting of the Presidents of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the United States Donald trump, which will be held in Helsinki in mid-July. He told about it in interview to TV channel OstWest, reports UNN.

“First of all, it is very important that the Russian and American presidents generally talk. I think it’s been a very long time since then, as it was last time,” said Volcker, responding to a reporter’s question that the citizens of Ukraine should expect from the meeting between the two leaders.

According to him, despite the fact that the two superpowers have many differences, it is important to communicate with each other.

“Secondly, I think the American media rushed to the story about the recognition of the annexation of Crimea. The white House expressed further very clear: US presidential Advisor for national security John Bolton and a spokesman for the White House Sarah Sanders clarified that the US does not plan to recognize the Russian annexation of Crimea. So we must understand the American position,“ said the special representative.

He expressed hope that Ukraine is aware of the fact that the US supported her in restoring the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and peace, especially in parts of Eastern Ukraine, where fighting continued.

Recall, according to us media, trump at a meeting with Putin to discuss “the criminal actions of Russia”.

We will note, D. trump, and Vladimir Putin will meet in Helsinki on 16 July.
