A recent study showed that 85 % of American adults in some form of daily caffeine, the stimulant contained in coffee. And then the question arises: How often and how they need to drink coffee to get the maximum effect?

In the new study, conducted by the research center of the U.S. army, managed to create an algorithm for optimal consumption of caffeine to boost alertness of soldiers in a forced lack of sleep. The system provides personalized suggestions -the algorithm about the dosage of caffeine based on the physical parameters of a particular person at different times of the day.

Although this technology was developed for the army, it may find its application in the civilian sector. Already developed a smartphone app that provides users with a personal strategy dosage of caffeine. It “learns” their habits, records data during fitness activities to generate the optimal schedule of consumption of coffee at high physical loads.

“Our algorithm is the first quantitative tool for ensuring the optimal and safe individual dosage of caffeine, — says the head of the research project Jacques Reifman — It will allow to concentrate and keep attention at the forced sleep deficit”.
