Arbitration in the Hague has convicted the Russian Federation in the assets of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” lost in a result of the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula. About this today during the briefing said the head of Board of “Naftogaz” Andrey Kobelev, reports UBR.

According to him, according to the court, Russia should pay the NAK compensation in the amount of $5 billion.

“Naftogaz of Ukraine” has received the decision of arbitration in the Hague, which dealt with a lawsuit against Russia for the loss of assets in Crimea and on the Black sea shelf. The decision was positive. We were able to prove to the Tribunal that the jurisdiction in investment protection applies in this case too. In addition, we were able to prove that the loss of these assets is guilty of Russia as a state and must answer for it, that is, to pay compensation,” — said KOBOLEV.

The head of “Naftogaz” specified that the announced amount is not final. The decision about the amount of compensation will be the subject of another hearing, which must pass this year. Exactly how much will have to pay Russia a Ukrainian company will be known, apparently, in the beginning of next year.

We will remind, “Naftogaz of Ukraine” in 2015, estimated Crimean assets 15 oil and gas fields, three promising areas of oil and gas deposits, Glebovskoe underground gas storage, gas pipelines, 43 gas distribution stations — in $590 million, Approximately the same amount it estimated the lost profits due to the loss of about 2 billion cubic meters of annual gas production in the Crimea.

Furthermore, Naftogaz needs to return two offshore drilling units, for which in 2011 he issued “Chornomornaftogaz” loan of $800 million, and is also stored in Glebovsky UGS gas.

In April 2016 the management of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation to international arbitration of the compensation for the loss of their assets in Crimea. Then the value of the assets the company has assessed not less than $3 billion.

In September 2017, “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and six of its subsidiaries filed in the Tribunal, formed under the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague, a claim for damages caused by the seizure of the Russian Federation of the group’s assets in the Crimea. Loss of “Naftogaz” as a result of the occupation of Crimea, experts have estimated to be worth about $5 billion.
