The death toll from the coronavirus, a new type 2019-nCoV in China exceeded 1,000 people.
As reported today by the South Morning China Post, during the day, the number of victims of pneumonia in China increased by 108: 103 deaths were recorded in Hubei province – the epicenter of the epidemic of the coronavirus, five other Chinese provinces. Today against the new virus a total of 1018 people died.
According to recent reports, China has 42638 confirmed cases (per day – 2478 new infected). For treatment are 37726 people, 7333 in serious condition. More than 3,000 people have recovered.
Cases of infection with coronavirus was also identified in Australia, France, Germany, Thailand, UAE, USA, UK and other countries. On 31 January the first two cases were recorded in Russia. After that, the new Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin ordered the closure of the border with China.
According to scientists from the London school of hygiene and tropical diseases research, the peak of the spread of the virus in the world will be in the second half of February, when the number of cases in one city of Wuhan will reach 500 thousand. These projections were made on the basis of data on incidence in Hubei province. Scientists believe that the Chinese authorities seriously underestimate the figures when they talk about 40 thousand infected. A similar view is shared by the Director General of the world health organization (who) tedros adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The who declared outbreak of coronavirus an emergency situation of international importance, is going to hold on February 11-12 global forum on research and innovation with the aim to mobilize international efforts to combat coronavirus (2019-nCoV). As reported RTVi forum in Geneva will bring together leading scientists, representatives of health organizations and medical officials. The discussions will discuss methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of virus and develop vaccines.
