The number of reported domestic violence in Ukraine increased by 40% – Ministry of interior
KIEV. 7 Aug. UNN. For the first half of 2020 at the National police received more than 101 thousand statements and reports about domestic violence, which is 40% more compared to the 2019 year. This was during the briefing said the Deputy Minister of internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko, the correspondent of UNN.
“During the quarantine, the topic of domestic violence has become even more urgent, as people were a few indoors and in a constant stay at home. Despite this, the national police did not record such dramatic increases in calls to the line “102” in relation to domestic violence during the period of quarantine… the Number of calls compared to last year has increased,” – said Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
According to her, this is evidence that people began to know more and understand more what is domestic violence, where to go and how to react.
“The number of statements and messages that are already received 6 months of this year, more than 101 thousand Is 40% more compared to last year”, – said Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
