As reported in the press center of command of naval forces of VSU, speaking at the meeting, said the head of the delegation of the Royal Navy Matthew Warren.

“The ships visit is the next step in the UK in support of Ukraine,” said Warren.

According to first Deputy commander of naval forces of VSU Vice-Admiral Andrey Tarasov, “this is the first visit of a warship to Ukraine after the events in the Kerch Strait, and it is very important to our state.”

Tarasov thanked foreign colleagues for their support of Ukraine in the fight for independence and defend their rights defined by the norms of international Maritime law and existing treaties.

He also stressed that “our strength lies in unity and the strong support of partner countries, and the UK is one of the first who comes to help and is a reliable friend even in difficult situations.”

The head of the delegation of the Royal Navy also expressed support for the Kingdom of Ukraine and the Ukrainian sailors who are in captivity of the Russian Federation.

“Today’s visit is another step in the UK in support of Ukraine,” Warren said, and noted the importance of combining efforts to ensure the security in the black sea region.

The parties also discussed the current situation in the Azov-black sea region, areas of bilateral cooperation and ways of its improvement. Visit of the ship will last until 22 December.

As reported the UNIAN, today in the Odessa sea port arrived intelligence of the British ship HMS Echo.

The main purpose of HMS Echo (H87) is a research and hydrographic or geophysical operations (including in the interests of the submarine fleet) and supporting amphibious operations. You can also use it as a command ship, anti-mine application, the search and identification of underwater objects.

The ship entered service in March 2003. Its length – 91 metres width – 17 metres, draught 5.5 metres, a displacement of about 4 thousand tons, speed – 15 knots.

The armament of the ship consists of three six-barreled 7.62-mm M134 Minigun machine guns, two 20-mm rapid-fire anti-aircraft guns “Oerlikon” and four heavy machine guns.
