The former Consul of Georgia in Odessa has announced the suspicion of embezzlement of public funds

KIEV. March 10. UNN. The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine exposed the former General Consul of Georgia in Odessa in misappropriation of public funds in especially large sizes. About it UNN reported in the press service of the GPU.

Law enforcement authorities reported suspected former Consul General of Georgia in Odessa in misappropriation of public funds in especially large sizes on preliminary arrangement by group of persons and legalization (laundering) of incomes obtained in a criminal way.

It is established that, acting in collusion with other employees of the Consulate, in the period from June 2012 to November 2013 he provided to the tax authority of Ukraine the documents for the compensation of more than 17 million UAH of a value added tax (VAT) for goods allegedly purchased in specialty branded stores “Louis Vuitton”, “Gucci”, “Dsquared2”, “Helen-Marlen”, etc., which are located on the territory of Kyiv and Odessa, which consequently gives the reason of the return as foreigners of the value added tax.

Thus the total price of the “acquired” employees of the Consulate brand clothing and other goods for own funds should amount to more than UAH 100 million or over 12 million dollars at the corresponding exchange rate at the time.

Directly such, the person said, and received the VAT refund in the amount of over UAH 4 million. These funds were recovered on his personal account and later shot them in cash in the Bank terminals of Odessa and Kiev on their own goals.

In this part of the VAT at a rate of almost one million hryvnia reimbursed him for the purchases in the periods in which he was not on the territory of Ukraine and to physically buy any of the goods could not.

Moreover, some purchases during these periods, the said person was supposedly made in the “Master company”, OOO “Everest 1”, “FF Ukraine”, which at the time of “acquisition” of economic activity is not carried out at all.

Now the issue on election of the former Consul General of Georgia in Odessa of a measure of restraint in form of detention with alternative bail in the amount specified by law.

As reported UNN, Kiev officials embezzled half a million hryvnias allocated for school repairs.
