KIEV. March 1. UNN. Brussels will verify financial flows from the EU budget in Slovakia for possible illegal use in the country. The investigation on this subject could be the cause of the murder of journalist Ian Kuziaka, reports UNN with reference to Deutsche Welle.

After resonant murder in Slovakia journalist Jan Kuziaka the European Commission will investigate possible illegal use of subsidies from the EU budget in this country. “We will carefully consider the matter,” — said on 28 February, the European Commissioner for budget günther Oettinger, the German newspaper Die Welt.

Before it became known that the Slovak journalist working on the investigation of possible involvement of the Italian mafia, the ‘ Ndrangheta of fraud with EU subsidies in the East of Slovakia. The European Commissioner Gunther Oettinger said that he considers it possible to use EU subsidies to farmers and agricultural enterprises of Slovakia for other purposes.

Recall that the body of 27-year-old Yana Kuzyaka (who conducted the investigation against tax fraud businessmen associated with the ruling party of the country) and his girlfriend found their house in the village of Velka Macha near the city of Trnava, 50 kilometres from Bratislava. The cause of death was gunshot wounds: the journalist was shot in the chest, his girlfriend in the head. According to police, they were killed between 22 and 25 February. British-canadian journalist Tom Nicholson said that the murder may be involved with the Calabrian mafia syndicate of the ‘ Ndrangheta.

According to the news Aktuality.sk, the Slovak police detained one person in connection with the murder of journalist Ian Kuchak and his girlfriend.
