The EU on Association with Ukraine: a Celebration of our Europe, a common goalUncategorized September 1, 2017
Today’s entry into full force of the Association agreement between Ukraine and the EU – a holiday to Europe, and in the future, the Ukrainians will “reap the fruits” of the benefits of integration into the European community. This was referred to in the press release of the diplomatic service of the EU.
“Today, despite all the difficulties, we did it. The entry into force of the Association agreement with Ukraine, the EU keeps its promises to our Ukrainian friends. I thank all those who made this possible: those who stood on the Maidan, and those who are working hard to reform the country for the better. This is a celebration for our European continent,” said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
According to EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini, the parties “have achieved what I worked on in recent years: closer ties between the EU and Ukraine.”
“This means closer ties between our citizens, baboutlshie markets and more opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs, and expand the exchange of experience, information and expertise. It shows that we share the same goal, and that henceforth the Ukrainian people can count on the support and cooperation of the European Union,” she said.
Future generations of Ukrainians to fully reap the benefits from closer ties with the EU, said European Commissioner for enlargement and European neighbourhood policy Johannes Hahn.
“The first concrete results of the implementation of the agreement can already be seen: export of Ukraine to the EU increased and the EU has confirmed its position as main trading partner of Ukraine. The recent reform in Ukraine was unprecedented, although much work remains, in particular the fight against corruption. The EU will continue to support the efforts of Ukraine to reform – as expert advice and financial support,” he concluded.
