The national anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has closed a number of criminal proceedings, including proceedings against the Odessa mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

Note that the number of media on Wednesday, March 6, announced that the NAB has closed criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal enrichment of the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, who was convicted of embezzlement in the purchase of the city factory buildings “region”.
NABU said that really close criminal proceedings opened under article 368-2 of the Criminal code of Ukraine concerning the illegal enrichment of officials, the abolition of which adopted the decision of the constitutional court of Ukraine.
“Contrary to moral convictions, pursuant to the decision of the constitutional court, which effectively legalized illicit enrichment in Ukraine, the detectives NAB began to close the criminal proceedings under article 368-2 of the criminal code. Among the already closed cases on the facts of illegal enrichment of officials and judges, as well as the mayor of Odessa”, — stated in the message Bureau.
However, in the case of Gennady Trukhanov that NABOO reminded that the Odessa mayor is accused in misappropriation of 185 million UAH of the city budget — the case against him is heard in the Malinovsky district court of Odessa.
“The decision of the constitutional court declared unconstitutional article 368-2 for this trial is not relevant, because the official is accused of corruption crime in another article — part 5 article 191 of the criminal code of Ukraine. NABU detectives also continue to investigate other possible facts of illegal activity of the head of the Odessa city hall”, assured the National anti-corruption Bureau.
In General, the decision of the constitutional court forces the detectives to close 65 criminal proceedings, but only in terms of illicit enrichment. At the same time, other facts of corruption activity within these industries, qualified for articles not cancelled by the court, will be investigated further.
We will remind, the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov impute that he, along with officials of the Odessa city hall and a private company from July to December 2016 captured 185 million UAH from the city budget with the purchase of the buildings of OJSC “HC “region”.
As previously reported, the constitutional Court of Ukraine ruled unconstitutional the criminal liability of officials for illegal enrichment — in this decision the court addressed more than 50 MPs in the Verkhovna Rada, among whom were those who were open cases for illicit enrichment.
