The culprit of the fatal accident in Odessa region was sentenced to eight years in prison

KIEV. June 19. UNN. Belgorod-Dniester district has sentenced a 46-year-old man to 8 years of imprisonment for Commission dorozhno-transport incident in which result was lost 20-the summer guy and 17-year-old girl. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Department of communication of the police of Odessa region.

“In December last year as a result of a traffic accident killed 20-the summer guy and 17-year-old girl. The driver who committed the collision, the scene disappeared. Belgorod-Dniester district has sentenced a 46-year-old man to eight years of imprisonment”, – is spoken in the message.

During a pretrial investigation it is established that the suspect being intoxicated, driving a car, moving on the right lane of the roadway. At this time, in front of his car, in the same direction, along the right edge of the roadway was the guy with the girl, which he didn’t notice, the result of which made them hitting. The driver did not stop at the time of the incident, because he thought he hit a curb. The result of his injuries on 17-year-old girl died on the spot, while 20-year-old boy was taken to the intensive care unit, where he later died too.

The court found the defendant guilty of a criminal offense under part 3 of article 286 (violation of traffic safety or transport operation by the persons operating vehicles) the Criminal code of Ukraine and h h 1.3 article 135 (abandonment in danger) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

In determining punishment the court took into account public danger and the nature of the offense, the severity of the offense, sincere repentance of the accused and has appointed to it punishment in the form of 8 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 3 years.

The court also in full satisfies the civil suit and appointed to collect from the defendant in favour of the victims compensation of property damage in the amount of UAH 99 thousand 587,82 and moral damages in the amount of 600 thousand UAH. In addition, the defendant will be ordered to pay the state income the cost of the examination in the amount of 11 thousand UAH 448,20.
