The Central intelligence Agency of the USA made a mistake on the advertising poster and the invitation to the work of Russian-speaking staff.
Careful users of social networks noticed the error in the announcement posted on the Billboard on one of the metro stations. It consists of two parts in Russian and English: “Your knowledge of foreign languages are vitally Important to our national security”.
Literally, this phrase translates as follows:
“Your knowledge of foreign languages is vital to our national security.”
The error lies in the wrong use of the English verb “to be”. That is, the allowed misalignment singular and plural in the phrase.
In October 2017, the CIA was also invited to work of persons with US citizenship and knowledge of the Russian language. Then the Russian foreign Ministry in an ironic manner, thanked the Agency “for the support and promotion of Russian language”.
