Monday, February 18, held a Synod of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, which discussed the issue of recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

According to “TSN”, according to the results of the meeting, the representatives of the Synod, read out the decision, which was adopted.

So, the Church of Cyprus fully supported Ukraine in its efforts to create its own national Church. Noted that Ukraine had every right to ask the Ecumenical Patriarchate for autocephaly.

Also in the decision criticized Russia and its aggressive behavior towards the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU).

“The priests say that the representatives of the Russian Church was able to come to the Cathedral to declare their position openly and to agree on the dialogue, but this was not done, therefore, for their ignoring of the Cathedral and to interfere in the Affairs of ptsu in the future have no right”, – quotes the media the decision of the Synod.

Finally, the decision noted that although the Local Church was designed to solve the problem of internal Church schism in Ukraine, there remains a lot of contradictions and tensions in the religious environment in the country.
