The United States accused Russia in violation of the protocols of action that resulted in the incident in North-East Syria, which resulted in the injured soldiers of the United States. This is stated in the statement of the head of the press service of the national security Council (NSC) John Elliot received by TASS.

Elliot recalled that the incident occurred on the morning of August 25 in the village of Derik in northeast Syria. “During the incident the Russian equipment crashed into the armored vehicle coalition, injuring the crew”, – he said. “In order to deescalate the situation, the patrol of the coalition left the area,” – said the representative of the NSS, noting that such actions are a violation of the rules of conflict prevention, which was approved by the United States and Russia in December 2019.

“The coalition and the United States does not seek an escalation [of tensions] in relationship with any military forces [foreign] States, but U.S. forces always retain the inherent right and obligation to defend themselves from hostile actions”, – reads the statement.
