The introduction in Ukraine of technologies that allow extraction of unconventional gas may increase the resource base of the country 5 times – up to 4 trillion cubic meters of gas.

This was stated by the head of the largest gas producing companies in the country, “ukrgazvidobuvannya” Oleg Prokhorenko during a forum “Ukrainian energy week” in Kiev.
“Our deposits are deposits that have not been previously involved. Are those deposits that have provided the US gas revolution In Ukraine, the resource base is estimated at 800 billion cubic meters, but if Ukraine will be able to produce gas from unconventional reserves, it will allow to 5 times increase in the resource base,” said Prokhorenko.
He also noted that the company has already started pilot projects on unconventional development.
As reported the UNIAN, at the end of 2017, “Ukrgazvydobuvannya” increased gas production by 4.8 per cent to 15.25 billion cubic meters.
“Ukrgazvydobuvannya” is the largest gas company of Ukraine. The company consists of 4 gas industrial control: “Shebelynkagazvydobuvannia”, “Poltavahazvydobuvannia”, “Kharkovgazoborudovaniye and Lvovgazdobycha”. 100% of the shares of the company owned by NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”.
