SBU detained two officials from the leadership of the Odessa remand prison on suspicion in extortion of bribes for mitigation of punishment which they themselves tightened.
About it reports “League” with reference to the press service of the SBU.
According to intelligence agencies, the attackers demanded bribes from prisoners and their relatives.
To this end, they specifically planted prisoners in solitary confinement or transferred to the chambers where they were threatened with physical violence so-called beholder, who worked for the prison administration.
During a pretrial investigation law enforcement officers documented the fact of detention in solitary confinement of one of the suspects, whom the attackers tried to extort $2 million of His relatives had to transfer this amount on a Bank card.
Pre-test investigation found that only for 2018 on this card received more than 2.3 million UAH.
During the searches police seized Bank cards, mobile phones, $1 thousand and 60 thousand UAH, as well as “documentation of illegal actions of workers of the penitentiary system”.
